New Millennium, the greater China launched a nation-wide curriculum reforming campaign for Full-time Compulsory Education and Senior High School in 2001 and then revised The English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School in 2003. One of the important values of curriculum reform is that it impels teachers to establish curriculum consciousness, to have their own curriculum approach. Therefore, all the teachers are facing these questions in the practice of teaching. These questions are also the research questions of this thesis. In order to answer those questions. the paper chooses Celester from HZ Senior High as the research subject.(1) What is Celester's curriculum consciousness in the context of the New National English Curriculum?(2) How can Celester cultivate her curriculum consciousness in the process of teaching?Firstly. the paper states three curriculum approaches, Technical-Scientific approach. Nontechnical-Nonscientific approach, and hidden curriculum. Then the study presents that teachers'curriculum consciousness includes curriculum objective and design awareness, class participation and reconstructive consciousness, curriculum research and innovation consciousness, curriculum implementation and evaluation consciousness. And then the paper explains teacher's curriculum roles as curriculum-transmitters, curriculum-developers, and curriculum makers, and presents the new concept of "teacher as curriculum". And then the paper states the relationship of curriculum and knowledge, mainly presents Grundy's curriculum theory. It is argued that the knowledge-constitutive is constituted by technical interest, practical interest, and emancipatory interest. By discussing teachers' practical knowledge, the paper intends to perceive that teachers' knowledge approach should be generative and practical. And then by analyzing a case study, a real teaching design, an interview and classroom observation, the study demonstrates Celester's curriculum consciousness, which is the adjustment of teaching materials, the development of teachers' curriculum roles and the cultivation of curriculum consciousness. The adjustment of teaching materials is about the change of vocabulary, the expurgation of teaching materials, and the adding of teaching materials. The development of teachers curriculum roles are from curriculum-transmitters, curriculum-developers, and curriculum-makers. In terms of the cultivation of curriculum consciousness. Celester suggests the setting up of the correct curriculum approach, improving course practice self-examination, reforming education teaching and rebuilding school curriculum system. For the more effective implementation of New Curriculum Standard Reformation and the cultivation of teachers communicative consciousness, the thesis gives proposals to the authorities, teaching the teachers and the students.The study understands New National English Curriculum in terms of a senior high teacher's curriculum consciousness. And it hopes the study can provide some suggestions to foreign language teaching and the professional development of foreign language teachers of our countries.
