| We always put our emphasis on the knowledge of English,the grammar and the written expression in our traditional English teaching approach. We neglect the students'ability of oral communication. A lot of students can't communicate with each other in simple English after learning English for many years. Their ability of spoken English is quite low. Foreigners once considered our Chinese students'English as"mute English". To change"mute"into"spoken",our students should only be trained when they are young.This thesis starts with the significance of the cultivating language sense, the notion and the characters of language sense. Based on some theoretical foundations about psychological mechanism of the formation of language sense, this thesis argues that cultivating students'language sense is the key to the improvement of their oral English. In order to show the effects of the cultivation of the students'language sense, the author did an empirical study through teaching experiment, pretest, posttest, questionnaire and interview. The major findings can be summarized as follows:1. The cultivation of the students'language sense enables students to improve their communicative competence.2. The combination of listening, speaking, reading and writing can help to improve the students'language sense.3. The cultivation of the language sense depends on students'initiative.4. A variety of ways used by the author can motivate the students'initiative.According to the findings above, the following suggestions are made on cultivating the language sense of the junior high school students.1. To make the students read more to improve their language sense in practice.2. To encourage the students to accumulate the vocabulary and sentences and to hold on consistently and persistently.3. To create a good environment for students to improve their language sense.4. To train the teachers and improve their teaching capacity.Finally, the author put forward some limitations and suggestions. And it is pointed out that cultivating the language sense is suitable for English education in junior middle schools and is worthy to be promoted and to be studied. |
