Career Planning Education is an exploring educational activity which helps the educatees with their career planning, with the aim of enabling them to develop or innovate in the socioeconomic, cultural and political fields, so that they can do something good to other people in the society. The United States, as a representative in Career Planning Education, has been at its mature stage, and the symbolic characteristics are:the idea of Career Planning Education has been popularized, the systematic teaching and practicing structure has been established, and numerous innovative talents have gradually graduated from universities, which has gained remarkable achievements. Career Planning Education in China, due to the promotion of Ministry of Education and the serious pressure of employment in the society, is now at its initializing stage, and it is developing by following the steps from knowledge to ability-orientated and then to innovation education, from employment to career education. As for the research of Career Planning Education is at a transitional period, that is, from analysis of concepts, discussion of origins, and demonstration of significance to the probe into principles, means, paths and patterns of the construction of educational, pedagogical and practical system. At present, there are following elements which constrain the development of Career Planning Education in China: limitation to the conservative traditional educational idea, deficient educational resource, and the absence of scientific and standard educational and practical models. In order to quickly change the current backward situation, we need to change our idea first. Investigation, coordination and generalization of idea, and practice models of Career Planning Education in universities are required immediately.The idea of Career Planning Education reflects its ideals, pursuits and beliefs, as well as reveals the internal logic, ultimate value and ideal pursuits of Career Planning Education. It provides answers to both the realistic question of "what is Career Planning Education?" and the intrinsic question of "what is Career Planning Education for?" This research sets the "essential research points" of the idea of Career Planning Education as follows:"the idea of spiritualism" of subject arousal as inner core, "the idea of epistemology" of subject cultivation as intermediary, and "the idea of ethology" of subject realization as object, which constitute the main stream of idea of Career Planning Education System.The value of studying the idea of Career Planning Education is to direct the cultivation of career talents, and to achieve the harmony and integration of the talents'free development and the progress of the society. Based on this, this study addresses the goal of Career Planning Education, and establishes four teaching models of Career Planning Education as penetrable, popularized, specialty-connected and personalized models. Furthermore, this study probes into the curriculum system and teaching requirements according to the characteristics of students of different levels, and indicates the improvement measures of Career Planning Education in Chinese universities.The presentation and exploration of Career Planning Education are inner demand of university development. Career Planning Education promotes the transition of universities from knowledge production to knowledge application, and it has become a method to help university education move towards the society. The practice of Career Planning Education is the objective requirements of the social development, as for universities in China, in order to keep the leading position under the rapid social transformation, they have to have knowledge and technology innovation as power, solve key problems of social development as responsibility, and cultivate a large number of innovative talents as objective, and construct a Career Planning Education platform to gain the recognition of the society and the market through curricular integration, functional knowledge and action-oriented education.
