Private higher education has become an important part of higher education in Yunnan province, after years of painstaking development process. Furthermore it has gradually expanded its size, increased its school level and its overall strength. It has made a positive contribution to promote the development of higher education and higher education reform in the province. However, some problems exist in the process of private higher education development, such as confusion of education management functions, non-standard internal management, strong arbitrary human resources management, confusion of financial management, and enrollment management tricks and more, which to some extent have restricted the development of private higher education. Therefore, the standardization of the management of private higher education in Yunnan Province has a very important practical significance.Based on the in-depth analysis of status quo of private education in the province, this article summarizes such problems as education management functions confusion, lack of financial support, ambiguous property rights, lack of awareness of quality management education, a conservative educational philosophy, low level of human resource management, financial management confusion, inefficient classroom management, enrollment management and other tricks and more. It also points out causes for the existence of those problems.Then, followed by a brief introduction to private education in U.S, Japan as well as in Hubei Province, some in Yunnan Province, this article summarizes experiences in the standardized management of private higher education including funding, management structure, educational philosophy, organizational forms, market positioning.Finally, combined with practical, standardized management of private higher education in Yunnan, basic idea was conceived. The article puts forward some proposals: strengthening the management of legislative norms, improving the understanding of the positioning of private higher education, improving administrative decision-making capacity, developing social intermediary organizations, determining a reasonable educational goals, strengthening the teaching staff, setting up speciality in scientific and rational ways, and vigorously developing vocational education.
