As an important issue related with female economic status and social development, female employment arouses increasing public concern nowadays. Since the foundation of The People's Republic of China, the scale of Chinese female employment has expanded, and the structure of Chinese female employment has been more reasonable, meanwhile, the level of Chinese female employment has improved. However, the female group is still facing discrimination in the labor market, which is an indisputable fact. Such gender discrimination involves not only the unequal employment opportunities between male and female, but also the lower payment and the more limited professional development of female. In this paper, the author uses gender perspective and the qualitative research method try to get the female individuals' real feelings and daily experience when they're at work by a long time observation on the Company C and the face-to-face interviews of a number of employees. Combined with specific data that collects from the company, the author attempts to make a clear description of the facts of the present female employment status. Then applies gender theory to analyze the causes of the phenomenon hidden in the facts, thus proposes some suggestions towards the problems of female employment. On the basis of the analysis, the author finds out there are still gender segregation on both industry and occupation. Compared to male employees, female employees belong to the non-core sectors, and the power is usually grasped by the male managers. Female employees, in fact, have a lower liquidity and get a lower pay than the male. The reason why is complicated. Besides the natural and physiological factors, the whole society's gender stereotypes and the labor division plus the negligence of the value of housework play an important role. The last but the most important is the lack of female individual's self-awareness under the influence of all these social factors. Therefore, we should awaken the gender awareness of male, who are the mainstream of the society, at the same time, help female form the correct gender awareness of themselves. After that, bring gender awareness into all policy decision making process, finally attain equality for female in all aspects through gender mainstreaming.
