Nowadays, pop music has become a kind of popular culture, which is easy to be understood, learnt and sung and has strong sense of the time, been loved by most of the students in the secondary vocational schools and been the main music in their daily life. Nevertheless, it cannot be ignored that this kind of preference, which is a lack of the ability to appreciate and identify the good popular music, may lead to low music appreciation taste. Therefore, the music educators are responsible to help the students raise the aesthetic standards and distinguish the good music from the bad one and to develop their good taste of beauty.The study is on the theoretical basis of music education appreciation principle, education psychology, music aesthetics, music sociology, etc. The author has investigated the influence of pop music to the vocational students'music appreciation in the Guangzhou Marine Technical School, analyzed the positive and negative effects, tried to find out the key elements to form the music appreciation and the teaching strategy in bringing up the healthy and respectable aesthetic appreciation taste among them.The whole article is divided into five sections. Firstly the characteristics of pop music and its current development in our country has been stated. Secondly the author investigated the influence of pop music to the vocational students'music appreciation in the Guangzhou Marine Technical school and analyze the survey data by means of questionnaire survey, observation, interview, etc. Thirdly the author put forward that pop music has positive and negative influence to vocational students'music appreciation on the basis of the former survey. Fourthly the author analyzed why the pop music influences the vocational students'music appreciation, and the key elements of its forming. Fifthly the author presented that school music appreciation education can develop the vocational students'healthy and respectable aesthetic appreciation taste and raise some methods in practical education experiences. In the conclusion the author emphasized the important role of school in developing the healthy and respectable music appreciation and appealed the government and all around society to raise vocational students'music appreciation...
