Research On The Governance Structure Of Professinal Farmers' Cooperatives In Sichuan Province

Farmer cooperatives have developed rapidly in rural area since 1980s. As an efficient institutionsl arrangement, it propels the development of rural economy. Recently, since the implementation of People's Republic of Farmer Cooperatioves Law, the development of farmer cooperatives have entered a new stage. However, with the rapid development of farmer cooperatives many deep-rooted problems that influence the growth and governance of farmer cooperatives appear such as the low degree of formality of cooperatives, imbalance of development, lack of encouragement for the members and managers, controlled by ininer persons and not completed democratic decision-making. All of the problems hinder the scientific development of cooperatives.This study based on the theory of governance structure, with combination of the survey data of 87 farmer cooperatives in Sinchuan Province. This paper dose empirical analysis aiming at the governance structurer of farmer cooperatives by descriptive analysis, case analysis and hierarchical analysis. This paper includes six parts.Chapter One---Introduction, background of study, purpose and significance of study, main concepts and the theory of governance, main content and method of study, the ceatives and disadvantages of study. Chapter Two---Literature Review, introducing to the present situation in and out. Chapter Three-Descriptive analysis of Sichuan farmer cooperatives, do the analysis from the followed four sides the orgnization of power, decision-making body, supervision mechanism, performing mechanism. The essay reached the basic conclusions through the above analysis. Chapter Four---Evaluation of the farmer cooperatives. Selecting 12 variable factors, the paper does an important anlysis of the governance structure using the objective and subjectice method weighting metrely. And get the conclusion the correct order of different factors in the influence to the farmer cooperatives. Chapter Five---Cases analysis of farmer cooperatives in Sichuan Province. Comparing the different types of cooperatives and the features of them. Chapter Six---The Conclusion and Recoommendations. The paper gets the conclusion which is fit for the practical developing of farmer cooperatives in Sichuan Province proposes the policy recommendations.
