For the shipping industry, using EDI technology for data sharing by carrier, shipper and forwards has been already inevitable, especially for E-booking. With thewidespread of E-booking, now more than90%of the bookings are done by E-bookingin COSFRESH. However, most of them happened parallelly during the peak times, which results in that the response to the customer can't be timely and accurate. Currentprocess of E-booking has to be changed to meet the customer's requirements. So it'smeaningful to optimize the process to improve service for COSFRESH.Based on the research of process optimization method, this article introduces abest practice to optimize business process by using ESIA principle. ESIA principlerequires four steps including elimination, simplification, integration and automation toachieve optimization. COSFRESH applies this practice by eliminatingnon-value-added business processes, simplifying supporting processes, integratingbusiness data and sending customs manifest automatically. This four ESIA steps makeE-booking process more efficient. This paper also discusses the implementation of theoptimized E-booking process and of the support for XML message. The optimized process practice has been proven to be able to add the efficiency inE-booking. Through the optimization process and IT implementation, COSFRESHfinally meets customers' requests timely and accurately. It can not only assure a liablestandard service time but also can highly improve the level of customer's service in thewhole company.
