| Our country is vast, but the distribution of natural resource and the regional economic development is significantly different. With the economic development, growing population and the constraint of other available resources, the arable land reduces continuously. The situation is difficult to change. How to exploit and utilize the existing land resources reasonable is the important task for the regional development. So the research on the regional land use and land cover change is more significant. It involves the effective development and utilization of local land. It can help us protect the ecological environment. Also, the research can solve a series of major issues, such as cultivated land protection, food security and the sustainable development of society and economy, which have the crucial influence for China's development.Since the reform and opening, Shanghai, as the center of the Yangtze-river delta, created economic development miracle. It is the developed area, where has abundant resources, powerful technology and good traffic conditions, with a huge potential for development and utilization. The city of Suzhou, near to Shanghai, had strong comprehensive economic strength and the total GDP and GOP reached a high level of development. It is one of the most rapidly developing areas in China. However, in recent years, regional economic development and the development of township enterprises drive the land use structure changes, which resulted in the decrease of the cultivated land resource and the spare land resource suitable for agriculture. The ecological environment is damaging constantly. It's the important exploration for the sustainable development of developed areas to research on land use change driving forces and countermeasures in Suzhou.The main content of the paper is the research on the drive forces and countermeasures of land use change. It takes Suzhou for example, a typical developed area. It is based on the data of land change survey in Suzhou between 1998 and 2008. The research reveals the reason and progress of land use change and brings up the countermeasures aiming at corresponding problem at the same time. Moreover, it can also provide a reference for the government in the sustainable development of land use.This paper established the spatio-temporal evolution of land use of Suzhou, using the principal components analysis method, to analyze the drive forces and its mechanism and process. It predicts the trend of land use change of Suzhou in the future by using Markov models and GM (1,1) model.According to the results, the author puts forward appropriate countermeasures:on one hand we should seize the opportunity of rapid development of Shanghai to accelerate industrialization and urbanization of Suzhou; On the other hand we must strictly execute related land laws and regulations and adopt corresponding measures in the implementation of land use planning management. |
