| HMI software is the core product of AB Company, both HMI software and controller business account for 30%of corporate revenues and contribute 50%of corporate profits, but the on-time delivery of HMI software products is very important to corporate revenues as well as profits. Due to the complexity of HMI software development, the schedule management still faces lots of problems. How to ensure the on-time delivery of HMI software products and improve the efficiency of the schedule management for agile projects is the critical problem that the company needs to solve urgently.In this paper, the research on schedule management is based on case study methodology. Based on the real situations of HMI software development, plenty of investigation and studies are conducted on SCRUM-based agile projects, the problems and issues of schedule management in HMI software projects are thoroughly analyzed, and methods for improvement and solutions for implementation are proposed. Firstly, the general information on AB company, the characters of its human machine interface software project, software product development process and project organization structure are introduced. Based on the recent project progress status statistics results of HMI software products and typical problems occurred during project schedule management, the potential damages of such schedule problems are analyzed. Secondly, the basic theories and domestic and overseas studying results of project schedule management are studied and analyzed. Given the related theories and practices about planning and controlling, the potential factors that could lead to HMI software project delay are studied and the critical factors are identified and summarized as below:the approaches and mechanism of schedule management are not complete and mature, the mechanism to manage anomalies is not effective, the communication across distributed teams is not smooth, etc. Finally, the strategies to improve the schedule management of HMI software in SCURM-based agile environment are presented in following areas:to improve the mechanism of project schedule milestone management, to optimize the mechanism of anomaly management, to optimize the performance of distributed teams using SCRUM and to improve the supporting system of project schedule management. |
