The Role Of Agricultural Technology Extension For Peasant Income Increase

Our country is a large agricultural nation, farmers in China for thousands of years is always the fundamental problem. Increasing the farmers' income is the center of attention in recent years, which relation to our country's stable and national economic development. In recent years, it's widely seen that farmers' income growth slowly and the income gap between urban and rural residents enlarged in Weifang and the whole country. Therefore, increasing the farmers' income is not only a strong desire of 800 million farmers, also be one of the most important works for our party and the governmentThe agricultural science and technology is the cornerstone of modern agricultural development, and is also the key to increase peasant income, but more important is the application of agricultural science and technology. Experience from developed countries can be seen. An effective agricultural technology extension system was the main reason to lead in agriculture for the developed countries. Agricultural technology should be accepted, adopted and used by the majority of farmers, farmers or agriculture-related enterprises. To some extent, that is more important than the critical agricultural technology innovation, because that is directly related to agricultural development, peasant income and rural stability. Therefore, to vigorously develop agriculture technology popularization are the basic way of sustainable development of agriculture and famer's income increase.In this paper, Weifang City, in Shandong Province, was selected as the main target. Based on the analysis of Agricultural Technology Extension and peasant incomes of Weifang City, a empirical research was done on the relationship between Agricultural Technology Extension and peasant income. Then the positive from Agricultural Technology Extension to increase peasant income was found, while the constraint on increasing peasant incomes from the Agricultural Technology Extension was also found. So the new ideas and policies about Agricultural Technology Extension would be provided to increase peasant income and promote economic growth.
