Wool fiber is a kind of natural fiber which has excellent features of making clothes because of itssoft, bright color, light and comfort features.Wool is deeply welcomed by domestic and foreignconsumers. However, it has poor stability to sunlight and is prone to suffering photo-yellowing,photo-tendering and photo-fading. UV will not only result in fading of textiles and embrittlement, butalso would do harm to the human body. Ultraviolet absorber dyeing on the wool fabric is the effectiveway to improve the ultraviolet protective characteristic of wool textiles.The application performance of self-prepared benzotriazole ultraviolet absorber UV-WR wasstudied in this thesis.The UV absorber has a reactive group in the structure of bromoacrylamido,and awater-soluble groups. Single factor analysis experiment was carried out and the conformabletechnology condition of UV-WR which were dyeing for wool was determined. The betterprocess of UV-WR: the amount of UV-WR was1%(o.w.f),pH was4.0~5.0, the amount ofAlbegal B was2%(o.w.f). Comparing the laundry resistance of UV-WR and Cibafast W, the resultsof research showed that the reactive UV-WR’s the laundry resistance was better than Cibafast W’s.After completing the washing process of wool fabric dyed with the ultraviolet absorbers, ultravioletradiation protection capability of wool dyed with UV-WR remained good. Ultraviolet ProtectionFactor (UPF) and Spectral Transmittance (T%) of wool dyed with UV-WR are better than those ofwool dyed with Cibafast W. Testing the relevant physical and mechanical properties of wool fabricdye with UV-WR,we found that its capillary effect has been improved, warp and weft tensile strengthdid not change, whiteness and Air permeability decreased. Analyzing the influence between UV-WRand reactive dyes when they were dyed on the wool fabric together, The results of the study show thatwhen UV-WR and reactive dyestuff dyed in the same dyebath,the fixing ratios of them on the woolfabric were discussed slightly compared with the fixing ratios when they were dyeing wool fabricindividually,there is no differences in the color but there is a decline of the K/S value of the latterbecause of the competition of UV-absorber and dye. Comparing the UPF value,we found that the woolfabric which was dyed by UV-WR and dyes together has a higher UPF value and a better UVprotection effect.It was alao found that in this research the ultraviolet protected the wool fabrics,the light fastness of wool fabics that dyed by UV-WR has beed imroved but it is not obvious.HPLC analysis found that the hydrolytic stability of UV-WR is good when it is stored in thewater or dying the wool.The UV-absorber can’t decompose to form other substances.Glycine as a group on wool protein, can be coupled with UV-WR to simulate the processbetween UV-WR and wool fabic.The products are characterized by1H-NMR and the results showedthat they were just the designed target products.In a word, the ultraviolet absorber UV-WR can be used to dye wool fabrics with reactive dyes.And the ultraviolet protective characteristic of wool fabrics could be improved obviously. Covalentlycombined with wool,UV-WR exhibits not only good washfastness but also a little effects on dyedfabric shade.When stored in the water or dyed the wool fabic,it won’t decompose to form othersubstances. The reactive ultraviolet absorber UV-WR will have a good prospect in application.
