Wire feeding and running system is an important part of narrow gap SAW, its performance affects the welding quality straightly. Digitalized wire feeding and running system applied the processor with high performances as the core controller, when reached the aim of controlling the wire feeding and running by software, with the outstanding advantages of position accurately、control simply、response rapidly、flexibility, which significantly improves the stability and accuracy of wire feeding and running.This paper explicitly analyzed the wire feeding and running control mode of narrow gap SAW, then correspondingly contrived a specific wire feeding and running system with the dsPIC30F6015to be the core controller.Due to the demand of high accuracy of the wire feeding and running system of narrow gap SAW, the wire feeding system chose armature current, wire feeding motor speed, welding arc voltage three close-loop feedback, meantime the running system applied the dual close-loop feedback with armature current going with motor speed, eventually by integrating the extensive used PI algorism, obtained the accuracy of wire feeding and running.To achieve the wire feeding and running of narrow gap SAW, designed the driving component required, the hardware circuits and the software programs. The driving motor for wire feeding is DC SERVO MOTOR of DC SERVO MOTOR110SZ03, transmitting component adopted the two stage decelerate design of straight teeth with cylindrical worm turbine, to obtain the random adjust of wire feeding speed at the range of0.4m/min~ 4m/min. The driving motor for running system is DC SERVO MOTOR110SZ01which is DC SERVO MOTOR, the transmitting structure applied the cylindrical worm turbine decelerate design with two stage, to allow to adjust the running speed randomly at the range of0.075m/min~1.3m/min. The design of hardwire of wire feeding and running system was completed around the core controller dsPIC30F6015, included+5V、±15V power source、motor driving circuit of H mode、sampling circuit of arc voltage and welding current、sampling circuit of spinning speed and armature current communication network of RS-485and design of display interface. The software of wire feeding and feeding system was completed by block design, included the sampling block of welding current、display block of welding parameter、block of bus communication, eventually based on the design completed the wire feeding control program of arc ignition、wire feeding control program of welding process、the wire feeding control program of arc dying, and the running control program of welding process.The edition、the debug and the test of software of the wire feeding and running system was completed mainly by the MPLAB at window operating interface. The experimental results illustrated:that achieved the digitalization and high accuracy of feeding and running system of narrow gap SAW.
