With the rapid development of computer technology, inevitably, the CAD/CAE/CAM integration technology has been widely used in plastic injection mold design and production. The application of CAD/CAM/CAE technology in injection mold allows plastic parts designs, mold design; mold making and molding process integrate together. This greatly increased the level of mold design and the efficiency, improved the quality and precision of mold making, improved the level of mold standardization, and shorten the development cycle of the mold. So it is reducing production costs and then stimulates innovation of the product engineers. CAD/CAE/CAM technology in the mold industry are in widely application and being pay more and more attention. Only combined CAD, CAM, CAE that could use all advantages of computer-aided technology. It is an application in the mold injection based on the study of mobile phone shell, as an example of CAD/CAE/CAM integrated system.An injection mold CAD/CAE/CAM integrated design process was described in this paper, and a brief introduction of the research and development trend of domestic and abroad injection mold using CAD/CAE/CAM was made, which outlines the mature injection technology using CAD/CAE/CAM at domestic and abroad. In this paper, it is based on the fundamental injection mold design theory, then the overall injection mold mechanism is designed, using the high-end software CATIA V5to complete the ordinary mobile phone shell mold structure design. The design process includes the creation of three-dimensional model of cell phone shell, punch and die mold design, the import of pouring and cooling systems, using the system installed motion simulation module to make the mold. Using finite element method, based on polymer rheology and the basic theory of thermal conductivity, and using the injection molding analysis software Moldflow Insight to optimize the products, which includes the best gate, filling, flow, cooling and warpage analysis. Then according to the results of the analysis, the gating system and cooling system was determined, using the computers to complete several mode test, the influence on plastic molding quality of two different packing curves was studied.The ultimate optimized packing curve, it reduced the amount of warpage of parts, combined with experience in mold design and the practical requirements, to modify the mold to fit for product quality, and the technical conditions ultimately was determined. Then, based on the using of CATIA V5software, the cell phone shell injection molds (mainly cavity and core) for CNC machining process was simulated. In the completion of the complex processing of complex surface and the cavity with straight walls, the processing problems were found before the final pre-production. Finally the CNC machine tools automatically identified the NC code, then greatly improved production efficiency and product quality, to achieve digital manufacturing. This entire design process achieved to be a paperless design.
