Risk assessment of oil and gas pipeline is the core of PIM(Pipeline IntegrityManagement).During risk assessment process the pipeline will be well known, the risk factorscan be identified, and the risk sections can be generated. All above are the theoretical basis ofdeveloping risk mitigation measures and evaluation of pipeling integrity. The authorresearched on the risk assessment of Qing-ha oil pipeline by analysing the actualcharacteristics of the pipeline for developing the theoretical basis of the safe operation ofpipeline. The article mainly includes the following research:First of all, study on theoretical basis of oil pipeline risk assessment which includes riskand risk assessment’s concept, and high consequence areas identified. Introduce Kent riskevaluation and RiskScore risk evaluation according to risk assessment need. On this basis,introduce two kinds of adjusting risk weight methods, FAHP(Fuzzy Analytical HierarchyProcess) and GRAP(Grey Relational Analysis Process). Choose FAHP as the theoreticalmodel basis of Qing-ha oil pipeline adjusted risk weight method by comparing the merits anddemerits and also the range of application. Research on the technology and risk assessmentprocess of different factors of risk assessment methods that include the pipeline third-partydamage risk assessment, the geological disaster risk assessment and the corrosion riskassessment.Second of all, the author identity the high consequence areas and assess the risk of Qing-ha oil pipeline by RiskScore risk assessment according to the base data and practical situation.Adjust risk weight by FAHP to get the more suitable of Qing-ha oil pipeline risk assessmentmodel. On the basis of risk assessment results and the practical sitaution of Qing-ha oilpipeline, assess the pipeline third-party damage risk to be prepared for risk mitigation andprecautionary measures.At last, developed software of “Long distance pipelines high consequence areas identifyand risk assessment” for convenience of adjusting risk weight, identifying high consequenceareas and assessing pipeline risk. Purpose on esay operation, reducing the amount ofcalculation and increase efficiency of pipeline risk assessment.
