At present, the progress of the traditional project management methods in the practical application ofmany of the shortcomings, such as determining the critical path does not consider the problem of resourceconstraints, the estimated duration is too long, no effective measures to deal with random events. So, theprogress of the critical chain management methods have been proposed. It uses three estimation methods todetermine the duration of time, consider the problem of resource constraints, key chain so determined is morein line with the actual construction.Critical chain technology widely used in other industrial areas, but very little in oil ground engineering,can learn from the experience much for oilfield surface construction projects, complex structure, large projects,long duration of time, the technical quality demanding process a wide range of relevant departments andinfluencing factors of uncertainty and other characteristics, research and the use of critical chain projectprogress oilfield surface engineering control will be more help to improve the efficiency of resource use in theoilfield construction process help to solve the problem of the progress of work, to help energy companiescompleted on time, minimize or does not appear to delays caused by the increased cost burden. In this paper, byanalyzing the shortcomings of traditional project schedule management method, combined with the backgroundof the critical chain, summed up the implicit assumptions of the superiority of the critical chain and criticalchain management theory, a detailed analysis of oilfield surface characteristics of the project management thekey factors of the elements and affect the progress of the project, estimated from the time of project processes,determination of the size of the buffer, the buffer management mechanism oilfield ground engineering projectschedule model ideas, last, Liaohe Oilfield, a joint station project the identification of project critical chainbuffer settings, draw under the critical chain schedule.
