In this globalized economy, the era of information explosion, people’s materialand spiritual life, and comprehensively improve the world increasingly high degree ofconcern for the elderly and disabled, by concern for the elderly and persons withdisabilities to become graduallyimportant one of the hallmarks of a national socialcivilization and progress, and thus the city barrier-free design improvement and use,also will be a strong push.The content of the barrier-free design for social barriers to the crowd, fully meetsuch as the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, children and other barriers todemand from those at the same time, we need to meet the needs of normal. This thesisstudied the accessibility to the meaning and connotation, made a summary of thestatus of the barrier-free environment at home and abroad, from the value of thebarrier-free design, the practical significance as a barrier-free design study toergonomics (Ergonomics) the theoretical starting point, scientific and comprehensiveanalysis of the application of the principles of barrier-free design in modern life.The barrier-free design in the public environment which is the focus of thisresearch project, the paper first defined the concept of barrier-free design, andexplains the significance of the study of barrier-free design.Second, it analyzes the status quo of the domestic and international design anddrawbacks, and obstacles to population characteristics and differences between theobstacles to population classified broadly divided into the three categories of visualimpairments, physical disabilities and language disabilities. And gradually specificstudy these three different obstacles population characteristics, the main obstaclesencountered in the city and their different requirements for barrier-free design, inorder to make a summary of the application points of the barrier free design in themodern city.Finally, the paper analyzes the case of the successful application of barrier-freedesign of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, Qingdao City, the environment, forexample, three types of obstacles crowd mapped to the actual environment of Qingdao City, barrier-free design in the modern city. in applied research,demonstration, and personal point of view for the existing problems.In short, the ultimate purpose of the barrier free design is to build a comfortable,reasonable, scientific, security barrier-free environment, to meet everyone (includingthe disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, children and other barriers to the crowdand normal), demand service, modern living environment full of love and care, topromote the harmonious development of society to contribute to the benefit of allmankind.
