Research On Conservation And Reuse Of Modren Building Interior Space

With the social development and the improvement of people’s awareness, theconservation of modern architecture has gained more and more attention and concernsin recent years. However, in such a rapid process, we generally focus more on theexterior architectural skin instead of a systematic research of interior architectural space.The unconsidered interior renovation works most of the time actually ruin the realspecial value of historical architecture, which turns out to be a big problem forarchitectural conservation.This dissertation researches on the conservation and reuse of modern architectureinternal space. Through the analysis of the characters of modern architecture internalspace and its value composition, the dissertation comes up with several basic principlesof modern architecture internal space conservations and some specific methods basedon the situation of modern architecture in Shanghai city.The dissertation concludes the internal space characters and value composition ofShanghai modern architecture with different styles and functions constructed indifferent eras, which is accomplished under the retrospect of the developing process ofShanghai architecture and city, the analysis of the current situations of Shanghai modernarchitecture conversation, together with the writer’s personal practices. Diagrams wereused in producing a direct presentation. Meanwhile, through the analysis of theprincipals of local and international historical architecture conversation and reuse,combined with Shanghai modern architecture internal space characters and valuecomposition, this paper proposes8primary principles of modern architecture interior conservation and reuse. This paper also analysis specifically on the typical practices ofShanghai modern architecture conservation and reuse, and discusses some generallyneglected topics on the conversation in real practices.Base on the researches mentioned above, different repair and maintain strategiesare developed according to different situations. With the direction of these strategies, aclear aim of conservation and reuse, and the persisting on the reasonable guidingprinciples, specific design methods are discussed in the respects of function system,structure system and decoration system in this paper.
