The facility layout optimization of manufacturing systems has always been animportant research topic in the field of industrial engineering, the quality of facilitylayout in a manufacturing system has great relation with the production efficiency,production cost, plant utilization, the useful life of equipment and the security of plantproduction. The design of facilities layout in workshop is a multi-objective andmulti-constraint problem. Based on the idea of combining SLP and PGA together, thispaper analyze the characteristics of Job shop Manufacturing Workshop, and try to makethe A company as our study object, we research the objective function model and itsalgorithm for workshop layout, and verify the validity of the algorithm.First, we review literatures of manufacturing system facility layout from home andaboard, determine the research direction. We research the basic theories and methods offacilities layout, detailed illustrate the basic principles of SLP and its merit and demerit,clarify the purpose and significance of the study.Second, we analyze the characteristics of Job shop Manufacturing Workshop mode,illustrate the evaluating indicator of the facilities layout and advance to make thelogistics moment as the objective of the layout design. Then we establish the objectivefunction of logistics operating costs based on logistics moment and indicate theconstraints in workshop facilities layout.Third, this paper reviews various algorithms for solving the problem models andin-depth analysis on the basis of the advantages and disadvantages of the basic geneticalgorithm and the principle and advantages of the PGA. Then we propose a solutionidea that combine the SLP to PGA. We also descript its process of solving the facilitieslayout problems.Finally, to solve the layout problems in production plant of A, we combine the SLPto PGA, and design the layout through the combination method. We ultimately find theoptimal scheme for facilities layout of this workshop comprehensive considering theactual constraints of the workshop. And we also analyze the effectiveness of thecombination method in solving workshop layout problems and ultimately validate it’s inforce and feasible.
