Preliminary Research Of The Rural Living Environment And Landscape In Rapid Urbanization

In our society, rural problems are always the key point. The rural areas havesuffered a lot during the reformation progresses before and after the new Chinaestablished. Nowadays, under the circumstance of rapid urbanization, the rural areas arebeing merged by the urban spaces gradually, which causes the lands are less than beforein rural areas. Consequently, the rural living space and landscape are damaged andimpacted with the expansion of urban space. It is the high time that we were obliged todiscover the new way to establish the rural areas.The logic of this thesis manifests as follows. Finding the problems in the ruralconstruction process analyzing the key influence factors taking examples ofsuccessful experiences proposing the design strategies verifying the ruralconstruction instances summarizing experiencesThis thesis adopts three approaches in the research progress, which are documentliterature, field investigation and instances verification.This thesis can be divided in to three parts: theoretical research, design strategyand instances verification. The first3chapters belong to the first part. The first chapterhas summarized the contradictions in current rural construction. And the second chapterhas analyzed the construction conditions of Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Auroville in India,and summarized the instructive experiences form them. The third chapter has reviewedthe different images in different time about rural area, and it has also analyzed thecomposition of common image from different classes. However, the first three chaptersaim to provide the theoretical bases for the fourth chapter, and the fifth chapter hassummarized the advantages and disadvantages of the design strategy based on theinstance of Zhaoyan rural area. The sixth chapter is the finally one. It has summarizedthe results and defects in this thesis.Based on the investigations and analysts, the conclusion of rural area design can bedrawn. We have proposed three methods to deal with the problem caused by the rapidurbanization. The first one focuses on the living environment of rural area. With theimprovement of living environment, this method can stimulate the sense of identity,pride and passion of rural people in order to lead them to construct their own family.The second strategy focuses on the landscape design of rural area. With the backgroundof upsurge tourism, this strategy can make full use of the rural landscape resource, and it can also improve the industrial structure and raise the income of rural people. Hence,it can turn the rural area to a better place. The third design strategy bases on the fieldinvestigations and document literatures, and it discusses the feasibility of using the artto stimulate the rural space on the background of creative class’s raise.There exist plenty of standards and valuations in judging the results of rural areaconstructions. But it is easier said than done. In the construction project, we have to facethe contradiction from different classes. As a designer, every decision is critical in ruralconstruction. However, every journey begins with a first step. Today we havediscovered the junction of rural living environment and rural landscape. But thereremain plenty of work to do in order to make the rural area be a better place.
