As the continuous development of economic and society and urbanization continues to accelerate that promote the formation of metropolitan area, what makes the relation of cities increasingly close and need an efficient, convenient and comfortable transportation facilities to be the bridge for people in cities to communicate. Urban rail transit is one of the transportation modes that has the rapid pace of development in recent years, it also has a certain advantage and various cities in the metropolitan has make their urban rail transit expansion to the edge of the city and have the conditions of convergence, therefore, use the convergence of urban rail transit to promote contact between the cities is the inevitable choice of the rapid development of the metropolitan area. But weather the convergence model of urban rail transit is reasonable has a direct impact on the effect of the entire line of network operations, so the study of the convergence model of urban rail transit has great practical significance.This paper analyses the close relationship about cities in metropolitan area from the city’s economy and spatial development perspective, has a detailed analysis focus on the needs about passenger exchange among cities, finally described the advantages of urban rail transport and prove that it is an inevitable trend to connect the urban rail transit in the metropolitan area. Then have a classification research between the passenger transfer and transfixion operation two main connection mode, do the comparative analysis of both the characteristic and scope,and discusses the scheme of the two modes of operations organization, finally based on the above theory, focusing on the choice of the convergence model of urban rail transit by analysis of the various factors affecting the choice of convergence mode respectively from the perspective of passengers and the construction and operation of companies. Refine the evaluation according to the characteristics of different convergence modes and combined with the transport organization scheme using fuzzy evaluation method evaluated the different convergence scheme in specific project, and give the final recommendation convergence method by analyzing the evaluation results. In the end, take the example of Guang-Fo line toverification theory and provide some reference proposal for the connections about urban rail transit network in metropolitan area.
