As Chinese railway entered the era of high-speed, the increase of new electrified railway make the task of overhead contact line system (OCS) design more and more complicated. A fine performance of the pantograph-Catenary system is the key point of the train’s power supply. OCS is an important part of the pantograph-Catenary system, its geometric parameters have a significant impact on Pantograph-Catenary dynamic interaction, So, Improving design’s accuracy, enhancing the speed, and ensuring the safety are very important in the design process.Based on the requirement of OCS design, a set of OCS CAD/CAE integration system is developed through the secondary development of AutoCAD and ANSYS. The system has a relatively intelligent OCS design and automatic OCS simulation, and have great significance to the improvement of the OCS design efficiency and the ensuring of the design quality.Firstly, the principle of the realization of the OCS intelligent CAD is discussed from three aspects:data base of OCS design, Rules control mechanism and the object-oriented OCS design’s elements. The rules control mechanism is important for the intellectualization of OCS CAD. Based on the three principles, the methods to realize the important design step in the system is analyzed.Secondly, the process of the establishment of the parametric model of the OCS through APDL is discussed in detail. The span designed in AutoCAD is delivered to the parameterized model to be assigned, and the integration of CAD and CAE is realized. ANSYS is invoked through vb.net to achieve automatic loading, solving, and output. And a friendly interface is developed for inputting parameter and displaying results.Finally, the composition and characteristics of the software system is introduced. Every function in the system is described in detail by citing specific examples. And the effectiveness and practicality of the system in the computer-aided design process of the OCS is validated. The problem in the system is demonstrated and the solution is proposed.
