Along with the rapid development of economy, the energy consumption of large public buildings is growing rapidly, and the phenomenon of energy waste is becoming more and more seriously. The energy conservation of the buildings is an important measure for our country to realize low-carbon green economy, it has become a key factor to affect our country’s energy strategy decision-making of sustainable development, and it is the long-term national policy that can not be shaken.The advances of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology have been driven by the rapid development of computer network technology, a lot of IoT technology applications can be seen in the architecture field. The combination of building energy systems and IoT technology has been an important technical method of improving building energy efficiency, reducing building environment loads and promoting building function. The tasks of the data acquisition and data transmission in the internet of Building Energy Systems (iBES) are completed by the intelligent gateway. Therefore, the research of specialized embedded building energy consumption data acquisition gateway has a greater significance.Firstly, this dissertation analyzes the urgent demand on China’s building energy saving, introduces the iBES, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of domestic and foreign data acquisition gateway, and defines the content and research approach of this dissertation. According to the requirements of the national guideline, this dissertation describes the related technologies required in the research and development of the intelligent gateway, and proposes own design.Secondly, this dissertation focuses on the detailed study of the research and development of the intelligent gateway from the hardware part and software part. Hardware part firstly introduces the main control chip STM32F103VE and its minimum system circuit which includes power part, crystal part, reset circuit part, download and monitor interface circuit, etc. Each part of the minimum system circuit is discoursed in detail. In addition, the hardware part also includes circuit of RS-485communication interface, circuit of storage module, circuit of network module and circuit of external real-time clock. Software part includes the data acquisition module, data processing module, data storage module and data transmission module. These four modules constitute the whole work process of the gateway together. They are described in detail with the flow charts and part of the code instructions in this dissertation. Finally, this dissertation shows the application of intelligent gateway in the actual projects which includes the case studies of iBES application in single building and buildings. Also, this dissertation introduces the research, design and construction notes of monitoring system respectively, analyzes and summaries the problems in the debugging process of intelligent gateway, and perfects the functional design of the intelligent gateway.
