Jingchun Garden and Minghe Garden both belong to royal Bestowed Garden of Qing dynasty.The year which they were founded cannot be researched because of the lack of historicalmaterials, however, according to the document, we can speculate that they had been built atmiddle and later periods of Qianlong at the latest. They, the important representatives of royalBestowed Garden of Qing dynasty, were finally finished at the golden age of Qing dynasty. Atthat time, a large number of royal landscape Gardens were being built, skills were becomingmature, and these Gardens, with very abundant imagery of building Gardens, were of greatvalue of landscape art.According to detailed historical materials, this article researches systematically on thehistorical evolution of Jingchun Garden and Minghe Garden, clarifies the network fordevelopment of theirs, and shows the situation of its golden age as detailed andcomprehensive as possible.Then, this article analyses the artistic characteristics of these twoClassic Gardens.Thereby, we can grasp the skills of landscape elements and basic building ofthree Gardens in general. At last, this article sums up the intention of architectural designmentand landscape management of Jingchun Garden and Minghe Garden.It has been impossible to embed invariably the protection of Jingchun Garden and MingheGarden into modernized school’s needs for Garden Culture. Its’ vitality is more reflected indeep cultural connotation, so in order to face the condition of two gardens and conflictbetween them, the author puts forward four thought of protecting them.In the end, since Jingchun Garden and Minghe Garden are all in Peking University, with areasaround Wei Ming Lake and Yan Yuan being defined as the national key culture-protectingsites by Cultural Heritage Bureau, this historical area has been paid great attention to again.Due to the shortage of land, Peking University carried out protective exploitation andutilization in this special section of the area and obtained a few achievements. Among these,the Art Building located at Jingchun Garden is a marvelous representative work of renewingand reusing. At last, the article analyzes the principle of the reuse of Jingchun Garden andMinghe Garden by combining this practical program.
