The development of public transportation, is both an opportunity and a challenge to thebus industry. Large and medium-sized passenger car is the car industry’s main models,high-grade passenger car demand is gradually increasing. China has a vast territory,complicated topography, climate diversity, customers’ requirements aren’t the same.Theessential difference lies in the bus industry and car industry, the car is mass production, whilethe bus is not. This need staff design modifications to existing models rapidly, to meetcustomers’ requirements and put into production quickly. But many parts of the modifieddesign contains a lot of repeated work, this leads to the production cycle of the product, theproduction cost is also greatly increased.Based on this problem, this paper sets off. Through the further development of the CADsoftware, we established the man-machine interface. Designers just need to do lesswork,according to the design requirements, they can get the rusult.The independent of CADsystem software program, through input parameters corresponding information, can beobtained by the3D model, include drawings and documents of the target component. Throughthis system, we can improve the design efficiency, shorten the product design cycle time.This paper carries on further development of the present popular CAD software CATIA,a parametric design method of parts. Mainly through two methods for parametric design: thefirst one is using the knowledge engineering module in CATIA, establish a parts library,characteristic parameters, by extracting the components to edit parameters, generating aparameter list, and then the size of the list entry enterprise common parts, so as to establish acommon parts library; The second one is using the object oriented programming language.This paper chooses VB to finish the further development of CATIA, through established theglazing parametric design system with visual interface.
