Power system reactive power optimization of distribution network is an effective way to ensure that distribution network running in an effective way of security, economy, it is an important measure to decrease network loss and improve the quality of voltage. Therefore, the research on power system reactive power optimization of distribution network planning issues, with both theoretical and practical application.Reactive power optimization of distribution network is a complex non-linear combinatorial optimization problem that has not been well solved. Tabu search algorithm is emerging in recent years for solving combinatorial optimization problems in an efficient search technology.This article takes fixed shunt capacitors as the equipment on reactive power compensation and using tabu search get the solution of optimal node corresponds to minimized loss in distribution network.And improved compensation capacity of neighborhood search, expanded the scope of local search to achieve the global optimal result. IEEE calculation result of the two examples that demonstrated the feasibility of this way.
