With the development of science and technology industrialization, scientific and technological strength has gradually become an important factor in determining the competitiveness of enterprises, the construction of various types of scientific research appears, including metallurgy research base at which this study aimed. The metallurgical research as a technological core part of the metallurgical enterprises plays a very important role.This paper, based on the basic green building theory, studied with the green building technology, factors with architectural physical environment, and construction of building energy efficiency with low-carbon discharging, as well as the computer simulation in green building technology. It also studied domestic patterns of the scientific centers and their physical environmental features, and then analyses those special factors of the construction for metallurgy research center.Based on the studies above, the paper discusses the green building designing and applying strategy from four aspects:planning layout, architectural design, building physical surroundings and building energy saving, which mainly aims at the metallurgical research buildings. It is hoped to set up a green design theory and methods which could be used as a reference to those kinds of metallurgical research buildings.In order to use the architectural design strategy aimed at metallurgical research center, the author take the case of Yunnan Metallurgical Group’s research center project as an example, and described the analysis throughout the design process, the extensive use of simulation software, such as Airpak, Ecotect, Tengen sunshine simulation, and energy saving programs. It then give a further analysis of comparison about the building physical environment design and its simulation using certain computer software, so as to prove the design strategy to be reasonable with practice according to the analysis of all results.
