Data Quality Control During The Vehicle Body Development Process

In current automobile digital design and manufacture environment, Product Data,as an important source of product information, its quality control becomes more andmore important. Product data quality issues will result in product design andproduction problems. Only to ensure the accuracy of the data from the source, thesubsequent can work smoothly, efficiently and accurately. Now the way to create ascientific, standardized and complete product data quality standards, and the way tocheck, control and management of product data quality has become urgent problemsthat automobile factory needs addressing.In this paper, much work is done to control the data quality in the vehicle body developmentprocess under engineering experience. And on this guidance, the paper create a comprehensivebody modeling specification, select appropriate check tools, use thorough data management,combine data quality control method and vehicle body develop process, and seek the best productdata quality control method, to realize the quality control of the product data.In this paper, concept of product data and quality of product data and productdata management theory are studied first. Then, the reasons of the data qualityproblems in vehicle body development and the importance of the data quality controlare also studied. And the method to solve the data quality problems is proposed inthis paper. Data quality problems type of vehicle body in CAD and CAE model anddata exchange is introduced under the research mentioned above. Model standards,Custom data checking specifications, Modeling principles and Reducing the numberof data conversion are proposed for data quality. Finally, the above theory is appliedto actual projects. All the data quality control methods are blended together and partmodel release in high quality is achieved in detailed design stage of the body structurethrough process management. And it is demonstrated that the data quality of theproduct will be greatly increased, if the control methods are fully taken advantage anda good foundation for future data exchange and manufacturing will be laid.A set of data quality control methods are proposed in this paper and theireffective and importance for the automobile factory in reducing design cycle and costis also proved.
