Nowadays the requirements of warship’s reliability, maintainability, andsupportability (RMS) are becoming higher and higher. However, due to its complexstructure, a varity of equipments and parts, warship system belongs to a small sample ofproducts. A comprehensive evaluation of the warship system’s RMS design features isvery difficult. The experience of analytical methods and mathematical analysis methodspreviously used has alreandy been difficult to effectively solve such complex problems. Sothe latest computer modeling and simulation technology are introduced to implement thedynamic modeling and simulation of RMS design features of the warship system.Reliability, maintainability and supportability information in ship design and the runningprocess are used to analysis the warship RMS. Then RMS evaluation statistics areobtained to improve and enhance the ship RMS design standards to provide technicalsupports for the designers. It has a very important practical meaning to imporve ship’s tasksuccess rate and operational readiness, to reduce the maintenance cost of the ship system.Frist of all, the evaluation indexes of the task-driven warship RMS simulation werebuilt. Then, an improved modeling of the structure tree method was introduced to establisha task-driven warship RMS simulation model, including product configuration model, taskmodel, maintenance model and the association model between them. Secondly,task-driven warship RMS simulation process was discussed in detail. The specificmethods used in the process were described to achieve task-driven ship RMS simulation,including simulation strategy, generation of random variables, event handling mechanismfor promoting priority the identification and simulation clock. Preemptive queuing theorymodel based on event handling mechanism was used in the event handler. Thirdly,task-driven ship RMS simulation software was designed, including the overall frameworkdesign of the software and database design. And Java programming language was used todevelop the ship RMS simulation software. Finally, ship power system was selected as anexample of the RMS simulation. And the convergence and practicality of the softwarewere validated.
