Discussion On The Landscape Maintenance Of The Classical Gardens Of Suzhou

The classical gardens of Suzhou, as one of world cultural heritages, are the Garden gems in China. They also have far-reaching influence all over the world.But, because of the ignorance in the historical period and contemporary behaviors of pursuing commercial profit, they have been suffering from the years of erosion and various refurbishment destruction, which made the gardens be losing their way. Instead of system discussion and investigation, only few researchers focus on it.In view of the dilemma faced by the classical gardens.this article analyses the reasons why the Suzhou classical gardens are being destroyed repeatedly,which is based on field survey combining with the relevant materials including the Humble Administrator Garden,the Lingering Garden,the Lion Forest Garden,the Master-of-Net Garden,the Canlang Pavilion,the Mountain Villa with Embracing Beauty,the Couple’s Garden.the Garden of Cultivation. Besides, it analyses the importance of the classical garden landscape, authenticity and artistry to the Suzhou classical gardens landscape maintenance from the aspects of classical garden landscape authenticity and artistry-landscape structure landscape artistic conception and landscape atmosphere,and puts forward to related solutions of the classical landscape and its maintenance. Finally, it summarizes that if the managers give full play to their subjective initiative and take full account of the landscape’ authenticity and artistry, the Suzhou classical gardens could be protected well.
