At the end of the last century, building ceramics industry of China has beendeveloped rapidly, the level of manufacturing technology improve continuously,and now become the world’s largest architectural ceramics production base, butin product quality automatic detection field of China, ceramic machinery industryis still in primary stage. At present, domestic ceramic enterprises are still usingmanual testing methods for quality assessment in the mass production of ceramictiles, the precision and speed of this method is slow, It is difficult to meet thehigh-speed, high-precision and on-line detection requirements of modernindustrial detection. Therefore, it is urgent to develop an automatic detectiondevice to realize the production detection of high accuracy and quick detection,to meet the needs of ceramic industrial modernization of our country. this papertake the detection of tile flatness as the research object, and explores the reasonof tile deformation, gives details of the research on the detection theory, softwareand hardware design part, makes a deep analysis of real-time and reliability,according to the actual requirements of industrial field and national testingstandards, puts forward a suitable detection algorithm and develops a high-speed,high-precision ceramic tile flatness detection and auto grading system.This paper designs the control system of flatness detection, which base onPLC and touch screen, utilize EB8000and CX-Programmer software to writecontrol program and humanized operate interface. Applying optical trianglemethod, choose high precision non-contact laser displacement sensor to collectinformation. Through the encoder and PLC high-speed counter function to locateprecisely for the sampling location of tile, send the surface information of tile toPLC host units, after A/D conversion, according to the algorithm for dataprocessing, compare the flatness data with classification parameters to grade anddetermine the convex and concave. PLC according to the judgment result to make a mark on the surface of tile through the grading device which driven byI/O point.The system can realize real-time display of the flatness values and someother function of human-machine interaction, such as parameter adjustment,statistical information and reports. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive testto the system, a large number of experiment data show that the precision of thedetection system:±0.1mm; repeatability in the same direction:±0.05mm; theerror rate of System:<3%; average detection speed:30m/min, the operation ofthis equipment is simple and reliable, has been used in variety of colors andpattern of polished tiles, the device can meet the need of manufacturers to detectthe flatness of tiles in high precision and speed. the system has some practicalsignificance in reducing the labor intensity, improving product testing efficiencyand the workers work environment.
