The emergence of IOT (The Internet of Things) is considered as an important landmark of human development, being regarded as the third revolution of information industry, furthermore, the union of IOT and precision agriculture is of subversive significance comparing with traditional agriculture. From the global view, precision agriculture is inevitable direction of modern agriculture development, and powerful communication capability of IOT provided the most powerful technique support for precision agriculture development.The agricultural information service of developed country is carried out through the whole process of agriculture production activity. It was proposed to establish an intelligent real-time interactive platform with video system that is based on instant messaging technology. Benefit the experience of developed countries, we have made a rapid progress on building an innovation system of agricultural information service suited the concrete situation in our country. However, there has existed a big gap between China and the main developed country in application of IOT in agriculture. First of all, our IOT technology is still in its infancy based on data-centric applications, which cannot address each individual famer’s particular need without intuitive video and audio interactive means. The second, lack of unified standard between agriculture information subsystems aggravates the difficult of a true interlink age of alien system. Finally, lacking for integrated information transmission chain of agricultural production activity, it is difficult to meet to the real-time, sudden and unpredictability requirements in the process of solving agricultural production.In this paper, an instant messaging system based on H.264and XMPP is proposed to solve such problems mentioned above. By detailed analyzing the key technology in H.264/AVC Decoder and XMPP, we can draw the conclusion that H.264/AVC can improve compression efficiency greatly and XMPP can realize the communication between isomer systems such as QQ, MSN etc. The whole design of module is given; then, the main function modules, such as instant messaging module, business treatment module and management module are designed in detail. Finally, we implement the system using C/C++language supported by OPENFIRE and GLOOX components based on XMPP Open Source Frameworks. Lots of experiments and tests verified the reliability of the system. To prove its feasibility, we applied our system in standardize vegetable farming by adopting various kinds of communication approaches. It proves that the model expand the transmission route of agriculture production activity information efficiently.In recent years, the research of development and application of video network software in IOT for agriculture is highlighted. How to integrate and Alternate the new technology to obtain a better application in IOT for agriculture will be our emphases in the following research.
