Objective:Through the observation of the the curative effects of microwave on osteoarthritis knee of rabbits and the influence for the corresponding biochemical index (interleukin-1beta, tumor necrosis factor alpha,C telopeptide of type II collagen) in the OA joint and serum,discussed the mechanism of microwave in treating knee osteoarthritis,and offered the theoretical evidence that microwave can be used in clinical practice. Methods:40healthy male-rabbits were randomly divided into normal group (16) and model group (24).The model group were duplicated by extended fixation technique. When models were done, took respectively8rats from normal group and model group (called blank control6weeks group (K1group) and plaster cast6weeks group (O group)):①etermined passive range of motion of each animal;②observed the pathological changes of articular cartilage with macroscopy and microscopy;③determined contents of douche fluid and serum CTX-Ⅱ, IL-1β TNF-α in rats by using Elisa technology. Make sure the OA model is success,later randomly divided the rest model group (16)into model group(group M) and microwave treatment group (Group W). There were no extra interventions in rats in M group or the rest8normal group rabbit (named blank control10weeks group (K2group)),W group were treated with microwave daily. After that, surveyed all3indicators which be mentioned before. Results:After the statistics processing, from PROM,macroscopic observation of articular cartilage appearance,microscopic observation of the pathological changes and its Mankin’s score, the change of TNF-α IL-1β, CTX-II in the douche fluid of knee joint, the K group and the O group had a significant difference(P<0.05),confirmed that osteoarthritis animal models were success. M group had a significant difference (p<0.05)with O group and W group, confirmed that articular cartilage degeneration continue to develop after unchained from fixation,means that articular cartilage degeneration unable to reverse,but microwave treatment can postpone cartilage’s further deterioration.But the change of TNF-α IL-β, CTX-II in the serum of every groups were not statistically significant(p>0.05). Conclusion:Microwave treatment can delay PROM s further limit in KOA rats. Microwave treatment can delay the articular cartilage s further damage in KOA rats. Microwave treatment can prevent the IL-1β, TNF alpha and CTX-II s further release in OA rats. Microwave treatment can alleviate the symptoms and improve the disease in OA rats.
