The college students who were born in1990s and grew up in the newcentury, are enjoying a good education and living in a life which needn’t worryabout foods and clothes. However, these college students have been sufferingfrom more and more psychological problems such as depression, obsessionand social phobia. A research conducted in4465college students shows thatthe prevalence rate of neurosis in these students was9.34%, that is higher thanthe rate of10years ago (6.44%); Some studies found that, the first ten years ofthe21st century,32percent of college students more or less suffered frommental illness. Continuing growth of psychological problems in collegestudents has became an important factor in restricting our personnel training. Therefore, the analysis of the reasons why students have a psychologicalproblem has important practical significance for the prevention of theemergence of various mental illnesses. Personality is the key factor for the occurring of psychological problems. Personality is gradually formed duringacquired social environments, it could be affected by axiology, philosophy andworld views. The attitude towards life will be different if one’s personality isdifferent, and the probability of psychological problems occurred in thosepersons who are introverted, not satisfied with life, or not feel happy will be3.5times than the outgoing, active and happy ones. People with Moritaneurotic personality are easy to worry, sensitive, self-reflection, self-centered,persistent, and they always pursue for perfection. Studies have found thatMorita neurotic personality has a great impact on mental health.A random sampling method was used in this study, we finally chose620college students and made the survey with Morita Neurotic PersonalityQuestionnaire(MNPQ), General Well-being Scale(GWBS), Self-esteemScale(SES). We have analysed the sense of happiness and self-esteem ofcollege students, and the effects which Morita neurotic personality affects onthem; we also have analysed the factors of the Morita neurotic personality, andfinally provided a theoretical basis for shaping a healthy personality. Statisticalmethods included the T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, regression analysis.Results:1.Among all these620students, the number of useful questionnaires is588.In these useful questionnaires,163of them have got a score of MNPQ not lessthan15, accounting for27.72%of the number of valid questionnaires. It includes89boys and74girls;126only-child and37non-only child;78students are infirst grade and85students are in second grade.2.Using logistic regression analysis, we found differnces on the aspect ofonly-child or not only-child between the two groups (P=0.035); fathers’personalities also have a meaningful difference between the two groups (P= 0.043); rearing patterns of the four groups have a statistical significance (P=0.049); seeking pattern among the four groups have a significant differences (p=0.032); other factors such as parents’ culture, single-parent or not, place ofresidence, mother’s personality, family harmony or not have no significantdifferences.3.The overall well-being scores of the MNP students and non-MNPstudents are74.68and77.83(t=2.90, p <0.05), the difference between them issignificant; scores on self-esteen of the two groups are29.08and25.71(t=-11.09, p <0.01), significant difference is also found here.4.There was significantly positive correlation between the scores of MNPand self-esteem level (r=0.681, P <0.01), negative correlation between MNPand general well-being (r=-0.577, P <0.01), positive correlation between MNPand anxiety (r=0.598, P <0.01); MNP is positively correlated withhealth-concern(r=0.442, P <0.05), MNP is negatively correlated with lifesatisfaction and interest, and melancholy or happiness (r=-0.439, r=-0.476, P<0.05); energy and emotional behavior are not related with MNP(P>0.05);self-esteem has significantly negative correlation with general well-being (r=0.492, P <0.05) and no correlation with the six factors of general well-being.5.Full variable regression analysis showed that the rate which MNP andself-esteem level interpret general well-being was52.1%(F=15.19, P <0.01),the interpretation rate of the life satisfaction or interest was30%(F=12.17, P<0.05), forecasting rate of health concern was24%(F=13.29, P <0.05), theprediction rate of depression or pleasant state of mind was16%(F=8.13, P<0.05), forecasting rate for anxiety was34%(F=14.52, P <0.05).Conclusions:1.Morita neurotic personality is more prevalent in the only-child college students than the non-only child, and population of MNP students is more in citythan in countryside, so we should mostly focus on the character creation of theurban college students who are the only-child of their family.2.The only-child, parent’s personality, parenting style and seeking patternhave important influences on the creation of Morita neurotic personality.3.On the aspect of general well-being and the six-factors, the scores of theMNP college students are significantly lower than the non-MNP college students. It indicates that MNP college students are unhappy in life, they give too muchattention to their health, they have too much anxiety and a strong emotionalupheaval. The self-esteem levels of the MNP college students are significantlyhigher than the non-MNP college students, extortionate level of self-esteem is afeature of Morita neurotic personality.4.Morita neurotic personality is not healthy for oneself, it negativelypredicts general well-being, people with Morita neurotic personality always havelower happiness because of their irrational level of self-esteem.
