Human communication has two forms:verbal communication andnonverbal communication. nonverbal communication means all thecommunication behavior beyond language.(Ruesch and Kees,1956).Usually we need both of them to finish the entire process ofcommunication. During the communication, people pay much moreattention to the verbal communication than nonverbal communication.They believe that speechis the only way to deliver and grasp information. As a result, the study onnonverbal communication is lagging behind. There is no doubt that verbalcommunication is the most important means and tools, but nonverbalcommunication is an important part of the whole communication. In agiven context, nonverbal communication can also used instead of verbalcommunication,sometimes even express what language difficult toexpress. Especially when people in different cultural background,wecan see its unique charm. In recent years, the study of nonverbalcommunication has already caused attention of the interculturalcommunication industry and the field of foreign language teaching,many scholars have done many research, but at present,the domestic research in this area is not comprehensive and profound and the study ofnonverbal communication are concentrated in the cross cultural level. Onnonverbal communication and foreign language teaching and thediscussion of the relationship between the system is not enough.Especially the effective application issues on the nonverbalcommunication in foreign language teaching are not given enoughattention, the papers and books about it are so little. On the other hand, interm of language research and teaching,Chinese as a foreign languageactivities people only pay attention to the development regulation of theChinese language itself of its teaching method research,such as theChinese phonetics,vocabulary,grammar, but ignore the nonverbalcommunication is also an important part of foreign languageteaching.According to the need of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage in our country this paper draws lessons from the western scholarclassification recognition of the nonverbal communication and combinedmy own teaching practice in Mongolia. I will analysis the effect ofnonverbal communication in Chinese teaching as a foreign language inclassroom from two aspects; teachers as the main body of nonverbalcommunication and environment language as the main body of thenonverbal communication,the paper expounds the relationship betweennonverbal communication and foreign language teaching,it discuss theapplication of nonverbal communication in teaching Chinese as a foreign language from various aspects. I hope that this thesis can provide somehelp for teachers and students in teaching Chinese as a foreign languagearea.
