Our country is a united multiracial country, the educational development in ethnic regions affects not only the development of local education and economy, but directly related to national prosperity and stability. The education of universities for nationalities as the foundation part of our national’s education, which aims at cultivating qualified high-quality talents to meet the economical and cultural development in the ethnic regions, has all along been given more attention. How to improve college English teaching level in universities for nationalities has been a focus. With the deepening of modern educational reform and development of higher education, reforming the classroom teaching model, changing the traditional teaching concepts is a guarantee of improving English teaching quality in universities for nationalities. In order to solve the existing problems, promote teaching quality in ethnic regions, train more high-quality talents. The writer tries to introduce the non-directive teaching principles proposed by Rogers into college English teaching.The paper puts "on the Application of Non-directive Thought in College English Teaching in Universities for Nationalities" as the theme, set the current college teaching situation as the starting point to carry on a thorough study. Based on the elaboration and analysis of the conceptions, the writer made questionnaire and statistics to probe into the existing problems in present college English teaching, and analyses its reasons, then made an all-round analysis of the basis for carrying out the new teaching thought, pointing out the necessity and feasibility to apply "non-directive teaching thought" in college English teaching in universities for nationalities. Finally, the writer discusses the practice of the "non-directive teaching thought" in the national regions from theoretical thinking and practical strategy aspects. Theory thinking part mainly discusses the illumination of "non-dsirective teaching" to college English teaching in universities for nationalities, trying to state the importance of optimizing teaching with emotion, arousing students potential ability to train students to have all-round development. Practical part mainly states the concrete principles and strategies of application of "non-directive teaching thought" in universities for nationalities, and make explanation from teaching evaluation and put forward some proposals of "non-directive teaching thought" in the process of practical application.
