Relationship Between Psychological Control,Leisure Motivation And Boredom Of College Students

With the continually improvement of modern society, lots of people got more and more time for leisure, but many of them often attacked by boredom, Especially the college students. while having plenty of time, lots of college students do not chose appropriate leisure activity and utilize leisure times in unreasonable way. Some of them utilize leisure time for exciting seeking, sleeping and other negative way. Their leisure life is not only unreasoning and non-positive, but also lack of independence and life goals. Continuously for a long time hence, they will eventually get mental health problems. So, we explore the relationship between psychological control, leisure motivation and boredom of college students, in order to finding the internal mechanism among them and provide some available advices for boredom coping.350undergraduates were measure with Internal control, Powerful others and Chance Scale, Leisure motivation Scale and Boredom Questionnaire, totally recovered304questionnaires. The study explore the college students’characteristics of each variable, and analyze their relationship.The main findings are:(1) There is significant difference between boys and girls on the dimension of Powerful others,boys have significant higher scores than girls on that dimension; Rural students have higher scores than students from cities on the dimension of Internal control, and have lower scores than students from cities on the dimension of Constraint.(2)There is significant positive correlation between Internal control and Identity regulation, Intrinsic motivation; while there is significant negative correlation between Chance and Identity regulation, Intrinsic motivation. Powerful others have a significantly positive co-relation with Amotivation, and have significantly negative co-relation with Identity regulation, Intrinsic motivation. Boredom have a significantly negative co-relation with Internal control, and have significantly positive co-relation with Chance, Powerful others.There is also significant positive correlation between boredom and Amotivation, External regulation.(3)Internal control can significantly predict the extent of boredom.(4) Chance had two passive influencing paths to boredom, one being directed and the other mediated by Amotivation; the directed path was the main influencing path.(5) Powerful others had two passive influencing paths to boredom, one being directed and the other mediated by External regulation; the directed path was the main influencing path.
