Chinese and Vietnamese have a common origin and belong to a single syllablelanguage system. Thus, they share not only many similarities but also many differences.For example, conjunctions denoting the transferring of meanings such as "que","dan","buguo"…in Chinese and nh ng, m, c n, tuy nhiên… in Vietnamese. Theyseem to have a lot of similarities in the use, in fact they are completely different incircumstances in which they are used and expressed meanings. That is extremelycomplex so if it is not analyzed carefully, the confusion can be made. The reality hasproven that the learning process and the use of conjunctions denoting the transferring ofmeanings in Chinese are often influenced by the way of thinking in Vietnamese andnegative transfer phenomenon which leads to mistakes. Thus, the study on conjunctionsdenoting the transferring of ideas in Chinese and equivalent methods of expression inVietnamese has great significance for Chinese learners.This paper consists of five sections; the first section introduces a brief overview ofthe reality of studies on conjunctions denoting the transferring of meanings in Chineseand Vietnamese as well as common mistakes of learners in the learning process. Thesecond chapter describes the definition and characteristics of conjunctions denoting thetransferring of meanings in Chinese and Vietnamese and the third chapter carries out theinvestigation and the analysis and then summarizes the common mistakes and the causesin the process of learning this type of word class. In the fourth chapter, the writer givessome recommendations and then summarizes the main contents of the thesis in the lastchapter, and lists some topics left open.
