As result of increasing numbers of teachers from the Chinese mainlandvolunteering to serve as Mandarin Chinese teachers in high schools in Thailand,research into Foreign Language Teaching and Research is currently in a state of rapiddevelopment. This notwithstanding, much work remains to be done into researchinghow best to teach beginner level Chinese language learners in Thai high schools. Thispaper is based on the author’s teaching experience in northeast Thailand one year ago.It mainly discusses how to make teaching methods more targeted, as well as how tomake the teaching more flexible. It will also discuss how best to implement teachingactivities to promote Chinese language learningThis paper first analyzes the general characteristics of high school students, andthen analyzes the characteristics of students in Thailand. By analyzing the students’interests and taking the Thai students’ performance into consideration, it then lays outdesigns for Chinese language teaching activities as well as activities for teachingChinese culture. The paper mainly covers four areas, through the representativeexamples selected from a number of teaching activities; the paper analyzes how toimplement the teaching methods for those Chinese Beginners in Thai secondary schoolstudents in all aspects of instructional design in their class.It is generally accepted, secondary school students in Thai have their ownlearning characteristics. As a result traditional Chinese classroom teaching methods arenot suitable for them to learn the Chinese language. It is therefore, necessary toconsider how to integrate a variety of factors relevant to their study of Chineselanguage, as well as to use comprehensive teaching strategies and methods. DuringZero-based teaching, it is necessary to cultivate the students’ interest, and by so doing,to improve their levels of motivation to study the target language. In addition, therestill remain many difficulties pertaining to teaching in secondary schools in Thailand. This paper will explore appropriate ways to solve problems in the actual teaching ofBeginner level high school students in Thailand. The paper also hopes to provide someteaching references and coping strategies for other Chinese language teachers.
