Animation character is based on people’s real life experience and it is constrained within the social collective consciousness. It can express personification and embody consciousness and will. Meanwhile, animation character is widely accepted with its moderately exaggerated image and connotation. Therefore, it is used in the spreading process, it not only has the function of information delivery, but also possesses many advantages which cannot be acquired by human being.As the information transmission is increasingly massive, signifying, accurate and humanizing. Because of the cheap price, nearly-prefect image and plasticity of animation character, people are more and more aware of the great potential existing in transmission industry including the brand promotion. Thus, animation character has been widely used in various fields such as clothing industry within a decade.Based on China’s special developing process, the application and development of animation character in clothing brand is rather slow. In such two major stages as the establishment of brand, design of clothing and the promotion of brand, animation character has experienced the process from monotonous figure or sign to the application of the specific marketing strategies. The application coverage has also developed from the pattern of mainly children clothes supplemented by adult dressing to that of all-aged groups. In terms of the application objective, it also has moved from the increase of short-term revenue to the improvement of the whole brand image and finally maintains the completely-new brand power by using animation character.On the whole, China’s animation character application of brand promotion in clothing industry is basically in line with the market. It gradually walked through three main stages, that is, simple decorative promotion of animation character, solid development of original produced image, compounding the whole-story warrant and multi-layer popularization, making it more established and abundant. At the same time, I think, animation character in the promotion of the clothing design should not only be developed and applied solidly, but also should make the promotion activities more various and abundant. Besides, the animation character need to be chosen and used more carefully so that it could represent the brand image much better, therefore, it can facilitate latter promotion and the extend of its series.Along with the gradual maturity of China’s clothing and comic industry, people are paying increasing attention toward the transmission quality and the brand connotation with increasingly high requirement of design and information. Therefore, the animation character will play an important role in the charming transmission of multi-brand-owned company.
