A Report On Translation Of Translation&Taboo (chapter3)

In the present translation field of China,“varied” translation has beenaccepted by some people. However, many people, because of their reverence of thetraditional theory, still resist the diversification in both translation theory andpractice. In other words, this is a sort of taboo which is harmful to both theory andpractice.Prof. Robinson, an American theorist of translation, has provided us withexcellent reference in his book--Translation&Taboo, in which he gives detailedanalyses of various taboo in the western history and indicates that these taboowhich still exist have gone deep down to each dimension in both theory andpractice and have created great barriers to translators and theorists, as well as curbthe development in the diversification of translation theory and practice. The bookdescribes many phenomena that can be found in China, thus is worthy to refer.This project is about the translation of the first three sections in Chapter3，particularly about the study of attributive clauses emerged abundantly in thischapter, as well as the study on the translation of the keyword “double”, so as tomake summary about the experience in translation.
