The Syntax Of The Paratactic Sentence In I Love My Family

Paratactic Sentence, which exists mainly in the modern Chinese spoken language,is the representation of the character of sentence structure "parataxis" in Chinese.Although unlike the Indo-European Languages with rich inflectional marks, webelieve, there must be the external syntactic features and the internal logic meaningrelationships for the connection of one clause with another in paratactic sentences.Therefore, based on the paratactic sentences in I Love My Family as the object ofstudy, this paper attempts to figure out the types of paratactic sentences in I Love MyFamily through the analysis of the synchronic description of the syntactic features ofparatactic sentences in patterns.This paper is composed of four parts:The first chapter is the summary. It is concerned with the research generalsituation in history and at present. Also, the author defines the meaning and theextension of paratactic sentences on the basis of the former studies.The second chapter is the syntactic analysis of paratactic sentences in I Love MyFamily. After the overall observation of the paratactic sentences in I Love My Family,the author classifies paratactic sentences in two types: paratactic sentence with thesame subject and paratactic sentence with the different subject. Then, the authorfurther classifies the two types according to the opening and development of sentenceconstitution. In addition, after the detail analysis of the clauses with the similarstructure, it can be concluded that the reason why clauses in paratactic sentences canbe well connected is the external structural characters. These structural characters aremainly shown in the opening and development of some sentence constitutions and thesimilarities of the clause structures.The third chapter is the pragmatic analysis of the sentence structure of paratacticsentences in I Love My Family. After the analysis of the reason in the diachronic andpragmatic view on how paratactic sentences are formed, we can conclude thateconomy as the basic language principle, and the two sides function in syntax are the main reason for explaining the forming of the opening and development of paratacticsentences, especially for the subject and object.The fourth chapter is the conclusion. The conclusion is concluded and theshortcomings are figured out.
