Resiliency is a kind of ability, inherent potential or character of individuals, whichproduce good adaptation results through interaction of the individuals and environment.On the basis of the related researches domestic and overseas, this study explored therelationship among life events, resiliency and mental health of junior school students.Adolescent Life Event Scale, Resiliency Scale and Middle School Student MentalHeath Scale were administrated to545students, who were from two junior schools ofHarbin and one junior school of Shuangfeng town in Tieli city, to examine the lifeevents, resiliency and mental health and explore moderating effect of resilience on therelationship between life events and mental health.The results are showed as follows.1. There was significant difference between different grades and gender inresiliency of junior school students, girls in the family support and social supporthigher than boys; scores of fourth grade was significantly higher than the first and thirdgrade on resilience and emotional control; the second grade was significantly higherthan the third and first grade on the positive cognitive and focus on the target; thefourth grade was significantly higher than the first grade in the family support andsocial support; there was difference between resiliency and each dimension on theplace of residence, it was higher on a city than a town and a country; there is differencebetween resiliency and each dimension in the family environment of growth except thepositive cognitive dimension, the mark of subject is higher to live together with theirparents than the mainly with the father(mother) life.2. There were differences among grades and gender in life event of junior schoolstudents. the mark of boy subject was significantly higher than that of girl subject inthe life events and punishment; boys’ life events and learning pressure, punishment,loss, health and adaptation and the other factors in different grade were different, thethird significantly higher than that of several other grades; life events and interpersonalrelationship, learning pressure, punishment, loss, there is difference between health andadaptation and the other factors in life on the place of residence, the mark of subject is significantly higher on the town than that of a city; life events and interpersonalrelationship, learning pressure, punishment, health and adaptation and the other in thefamily environment of growth difference, the mark of subject is higher to live togetherwith the father(mother) life than the mainly with their parents.3. There were significant differences between different grades and gender injunior school students’ mental health, the mark of boy subject is higher than that ofgirls in the psychological imbalance factor; the mark of subject is less in the fourthgrade in mental health and each dimension than that of in the third grade; mental healthand each dimension in life on the location difference, the mark of subject on a city isless than that of on a town and country; mental health and each dimension in the familyenvironment of growth difference, the mark of subject is less to live together with theirparents than that of subject to mainly live with the father(mother) life.4. There was correlation among resiliency, life event and mental health. Life eventand resiliency were negatively correlated; life event was in significant positivecorrelation with mental health and resiliency was significant negatively correlated tomental health.5. Resiliency has a moderating effect between life event and mental health.
