With the arrival of globalization, the idea of multicultural music education hasbeen the focus of people’s concern. In all previous world music education conventions,the diversity of world music culture fully reflects harmony without sameness. From theaspect of world music education convention, this paper analyses the developmentprocess, approaches, curriculum, problems we face with, strategies of multiculturalmusic education home and abroad according to the related concepts with the help ofdocuments, investigation, comparison. The trend of thought of multicultural musiceducation will carry all before one. Under the background of multi-culture, it has a deepsense that several problems as well as the implement strategies are explored positively.The paper will clear up and study the related documents to seek for a long-termdevelopment road of multicultural music education which suits for China’s actualconditions.The paper is divided into three parts:the first part is an introduction,including the background information and significant meaning of choosing thistopic, literal review and innovation points.The second part is the main body which is from chapter2to chapter5.Chapter2will introduce some basic concepts, and briefly describe thedefinitions of multi-culture as well as the related concepts. Chapter3will analyze thetopic of all previous world music education convention and the embodiment of the29thworld music education convention in the setting of multi-culture. Chapter4will studythe development process, approaches, curriculum of multicultural music educationhome and abroad. Chapter5will discuss the problems we confronted with andstrategies in China’s multi-culture music education. The paper starts with the totallynew ideas, then study the plans and problems in school music education of China, andfinally analyze the enlightenments for China’s school music education developmentfrom the perspective of multi-culture music education.The third part is a conclusionwhich summaries the whole passage, points out the main points, the values andthe flaws of the study, and illustrates the further study in the future.
