Language and culture are inseparable. Language is an integral part of culture; it is also the carrier of culture. The close relationship between the two determines that translation can not be separated from culture. Translation is not only the conversion of text symbols, it is the conversion of cultural information. As a result, it is essential for the translator to transfer cultural information accurately in the political and economic translation. Two translation strategies are often used in the transmission of cultural information in political and economic texts:domestication which is TL culture-oriented and foreignization which is SL culture-oriented. This paper focuses on the proper use of the two strategies. The author holds that using domestication as the main translation strategy and supplemented by foreignization, together with proper combination of domestication and foreignization can well reproduce the cultural information in political and economic texts.
