Report On The Translation Of Some Articles In The Sales Contract For The Australian Lacrosse Apartments

With the rapid development of China’s economy, especially the craze of domestic real estate industry, more and more overseas developers and real estate dealers come to China to promote their projects. Translation of legal documents like the sales contracts plays an important part in the overseas real estate purchase and sales. This thesis describes the text nature, process and case analyses of my translation of some articles in the Sales Contract for the Lacrosse Apartments in Melbourne, Australia.Undoubtedly, many factors need to be taken into account in the translation, but this thesis can only focus on three aspects that are regarded as the most important ones by the author.Firstly, the thesis points out that excellent translation of real estate names can attract the customers effectively and directly promote the sales volume. Therefore, the thesis analyzes through examples the features and key elements of translating property names. Secondly, with regard to the different ways between the Chinese and Australians of understanding the basic concept,"area", this thesis analyzes the different ways of expressing the area for practical use in real estate programs and points out the questions that deserve special attention from translators. Thirdly, this thesis argues that the translators of real estate projects should pay special attention to preciseness and legality. In order to ensure the achieving of this goal, this thesis analyzes through quite a number of examples the necessary skills for translating long and complex sentences, the liabilities in translation and their causes and provides certain strategies for avoiding them.
