With the deepening of the global economic integration, China’s real estate industry has gradually penetrated the international market. Meanwhile, products of China’s real estate industry have attracted more and more attention from overseas customers. In order to promote real estate products into the international market, we should attach increasing importance to the publicity-oriented C/E translation of real estate industry materials. This report analyses the application of communicative translation in the C/E translation of The Advantages of Real Estate Investment in Australia and Malaysia in order to reproduce the contextual meanings of ST in a way that both content and language are readily comprehensible and acceptable to the English customers. The publicity materials in real estate industry are characterized by high-context and implicit messages at textual level; parallelism, symmetry and a mixture of short and long sentences in syntax; tautology, four-word proverbs and idioms at lexical level. When dealing with such kind of text, communicative translation can be adopted, for it can help to achieve both the informative and vocative function of the original text. With the purpose of communicative translation, a variety of translation procedures have been applied in translating, including literal translation, modulation, amplification, restructuring and division so as to negotiate the differences in the linguistic styles, textual organizations, logical patterns, and cultural values between Chinese and English. The reflections on the translating and the translation have been conducive to the achievement of communicative translation. And this has also made me gain pro-professional translation experience.
