New words and phrases are very important components in Chinese lexical system. This is a paper on Chinese new words and phrases in teaching Chinese as a foreign language with oral teaching centered. Through investigation, statistics, comparison and analysis, we are to do in-depth research from various angles.This paper is divided into five chapters.In the first chapter, we make a summary of relevant research results, explain the purpose and significance of the paper, and give a definition to Chinese new words and phrases.In the second chapter, we investigate and analyze the new words and phrases in those oral textbooks published in21st century from various angles in order to obtain research data and useful conclusions, and give suggestions to textbooks and lexical syllabus in selecting new words and phrases.In the third chapter, we try to offer a method of selecting new words and phrases for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Then we make a small glossary with this method.In the forth chapter, we summarize the principles, priorities and problems needing attention of teaching new words and phrases in oral Chinese class, and try to find a way to carry out effective teaching. We propose the idea of "supplement" and the supplementary method of "topic/situation-semantic class". To verify this idea and method, we apply them to a textbook.In the last chapter, we summarize the achievements and shortcomings of this paper, and give an outlook to the prospect of the research of teaching Chinese new words and phrases in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
