When translating the culture-loaded words, it is difficult for the translators to find out the corresponding words and expressions in the target language in the process of their translation, and they usually turn to two strategies—"domestication" and "foreignization". With the continuous improvement of China’s international status, the strategy of foreignization, which renders Chinese culture as the end-result, will be more and more widely used in the translation of Chinese culture-loaded words. With the case study of Feng Xiang Yi Zhen Wang Shi, this thesis respectively discusses the specific translation approaches on the basis of the strategies of domestication and foreignization, which have become indispensable in cross-cultural translation; thus, the two strategies should be used integratedly on a case-by-case basis. However, with the advent of.globalization, as the foreignization of Chinese culture-loaded words can not only accurately convey the meaning of the words, but also facilitate the spread of the oriental culture, thus to achieve the maximum transmission of Chinese culture and to promote the mutual understanding and exchange between the east and the west; as a result, foreignization has been attracting more and more attention in cross-culture communication.
