Translation Of English News From The Perspective Of Cultural Background Factors

In the English news translation process, there are a numerous cultural background factors that will affect the target language readers to understand and grasp the information of source language accurately. This field always draw close attention of relative researchers. Because of ignoring or misunderstanding culture background factors in the news, the translation text of English news will bring puzzlements and wrong impression in various way on the comprehension-level to Chinese readers. In this paper, the author firstly introduced the characteristics of English news from the perspectives of the language style and textual structure are, and emphasized that it is equally important to consider both the cultural background factors and the characteristics of English news in the process of in English-Chinese translation. Secondly, numerous cultural background factors encountered in the process of English news translation can be classified into six types, that is geographical environment, life style, traditional customs, religious beliefs, historical allusion, literature connotation; Finally, based on the actual needs of English news translation, one can summarize four commonly used methods of translation, namely the literal translation, the literal translation with notes, the free translation, and the transliteration.Based on the previous research of counterparts and the author’s summary of translating practice, the paper aims to really understand the culture of English nations and to adjust the cultural information in the process of translation, so as to furthest ensure the equivalence of semantic information and the reciprocity of style information, to avoid and reduce the absence of cultural information in translation, and to achieve an accurate expression and transfer.
